SILK THREAD: CHINA AND THE NETHERLANDS FROM 1600

By Tristan Mostert and Jan van Campen

The third book in the Rijksmuseum’s Country Series and accompanying the Asian export exhibitions in the recently reopened Rijksmuseum Amsterdam looks at 400 years of relationship between China and the Netherlands. The Dutch made many attempts to set foot in China and the book highlights the 17th and 18th century when the VOC (Dutch East India Company) came to prominence, preceding the British East India Company.

The next book in the same series will focus on the country’s relationship with Japan – A NARROW BRIDGE.
